Please refer to this document on Equipment specifications provided by WALA in January 2010.
Little Athletics need to be a place of fun and trying to improve ones-self - more so it is a place for our little athletes to thrive and enjoy this lovely healthy sport in a fair competition. The Code of Conduct is therefore always focussed on the interest of the athletes and not necessarily on personal interests and priorities of adults.
All committee members, coaches, officials and parent helpers are unpaid and volunteers. These people work for many hours of their free time to plan, manage and operate Little Athletics to the benefit of the community and its children. Disrespect towards these people and their efforts will not be tolerated and the Committee Members and Officials may report offenders to be dealt with by the Executive committee. In extreme cases the Arena Manager may request the offender to leave the arena immediately.
Officials/Parent Helpers/Coaches will be aware of their duties and will operate accordingly.
Athletes are to be given a practice throw/jump at all times, unless directed otherwise by the Arena manager or assistant Arena manager.
Protests are to be presented by club managers in writing on the official protest form to the Arena Manager and must be accompanied by a fee of $20.00. The money will be forfeited should the complaint prove frivolous. A protest committee will deal with the complaint on the day. Complaints will not be considered unless the complaint is channelled through a club committee member to the Arena manager.
Unless competing in an event or acting as an official or parent helper, NO ONE shall be allowed onto the arena or sites whilst events are being conducted. Failure to observe this rule may result in penalties to the club and athlete disqualification.
Athletes and site officials must at all times walk around the track and NOT across the centre of the arena as a safety precaution and not disturbing the view of the starter at any time.
Club committees have a responsibility to inform their members that parent help and officiating is a requirement to adhere to for ALL parents. When rosters are set, club committees have the responsibility to communicate these to their members and ensure that they are reporting at the right time and place.
All site/chief officials MUST sign the register before they can enter the competition arena. Parent Helpers will sign on with site/chief officials. Record will be kept of parents not complying with roster duties/parent help for action by the Centre Executive committee.
All athletes must be registered with the Joondalup centre. Registered athletes from other centres are welcome to participate but must gain approval from the Arena manager and reported to the Recorder.
All events are conducted in accordance with the rules as determined by WALA. The centre executive committee may, at their discretion, implement domestic amendments to those rules to be applied at the Centre.
Athletes may compete out of their age group and gender on request, on the understanding that, all records broken become invalid. Records will be upheld, if the athletes were invited to compete out of age group or gender, by the Arena Manager.
All athletes are required to be courteous to officials and show the utmost regard for their fellow athletes.
A key site official, Arena manager and assistant Arena manager may suspend an athlete under their control from continuing in an event should they consider that the athletes behaviour is detrimental to the safe and efficient conduct of the event.
All athletes MUST report to the marshalling area and have their names recorded when called prior to their event. Athletes are not to proceed directly to the site without reporting to the marshalling area. There will be two calls only for each event.
The Arena Manager has the discretion to change the order of events should that be deemed necessary on the day. The Arena Manager may consult with the Programme Committee and other Executive Committee members to make this decision. (Sub committee decisions at all times need to be approved by the Executive Committee)
The centre recommend that athletes wear a hat on the athletics facility at all times when not competing. However the wearing of hats during the conduct of an event is optional.
