Roster Policy

Little Athletics is a family-based sport. To make your child's experience at Little Athletics fun and positive, regular family help is required.

JLAC understands that many families are busy and with increasing amounts of 'fly in fly out' and weekend work or with blended families it can be difficult to commit to a regular roster. Nevertheless, one of the reasons why JLAC fees are so low in comparison to other activities is that Centre's depends heavily on volunteer family help to run its Competition.

If some families don't help, then other families have to do extra work. This places an unnecessary burden on those families who do the extra work and is unfair on their children as it takes parents and family members away from enjoying sport with their own children.

Family Commitment

Families must do at least one JLAC Meet roster per calendar month during the summer season. (This commitment is per family--not per athlete.)

Rosters can be completed by any family member over the age of 16 (parents, grandparents, older siblings, babysitters, etc).

If a family does not complete at least one roster in a calendar month, then that family's athletes are cannot compete until the family has completed a roster. If a family does not complete at least one roster per calendar month, then that family's athletes are not eligible for medals on JLAC Championship Days although they are allowed to compete at Championship Days.

JLAC Competition rosters refers to the rosters needed to run JLAC's Saturday Meets. This roster commitment doesn't refer to volunteering put in by families for Club/Centre coaching, administration or at WALA events.

Nominating for Rosters

To accommodate different family schedules, JLAC has a Roster application available at the JLAC website that families use to nominate the roster that they wish to complete. The address for the Rosters Web App is http://www.jlac.org.au/rosters.

Families must nominate for their pre-Christmas rosters (at least one roster in October, November and December) on the Roster Web App by 1st October. Families must nominate for their post-Christmas rosters (at least one roster in January, February, and March) on the Roster Web App by 1st January.

Failure to nominate for a roster on the Roster Web App by these dates will result in JLAC allocating the family a roster to perform.

After a family has nominated/been allocated a roster, they are responsible for completing that roster. If a family cannot complete a roster, it is their responsibility to arrange for a replacement. Families can contact the Development Officer at development@jlac.org.au to discuss roster replacements.

Completing a Roster

Families must sign-in at the beginning of their roster and collect a lanyard that they wear whilst completing their roster. Families must sign-out at the end of their roster. Families who don't sign-in/sign-out are not recorded as having completed their roster.

Families must participate in all the events associated with their roster. Families must print their name at the bottom of the recording sheets for all Field events they help at.

If a family does not complete a nominated/allocated roster then that family's athletes cannot compete until the family has completed a roster.
